For each interval, find the size first. Then determine which family the interval belongs to: the perfect family or the major/minor family. Finally, use the major scale that corresponds to the bottom note to find the quality. If there is no major scale that fits the bottom note, adjust the scale notes up or down, or fall back to counting half steps.
