tutor showing how one might approach the items in a module

Overview

In this module, you’ll bring your knowledge of pitch and rhythm together to notate and create a couple simple melodies. You’ll review treble, bass, and grand staff notation, basic note values and rests, dotted notes, and common time signatures using a concise summary "cheat sheet." To sum everything up, you'll be completing a quiz on pitch and duration to check your understanding before moving forward.

Objectives

By the end of this module you should be able to:

  • Compose a short two-phrase melody similar to Mary Had a Little Lamb
  • Compare various durational symbols
  • Give letter names for pitches notated in treble and bass clef
